Tosa Church is the Church we went to on Sunday, it’s the Church Max attends. Just, like our church, they have a Kindergarten/preschool. We visited their Kindergarten/preschool, called Izumi Kindergarten. The kids were shy at first but, at the end of the day they perked up. Kira organized a craft for them, Aunty Lila sung a song and all of us performed Kimi Wa (hula) and played with the children. We did water play, house, sand creations, tag and blocks. With all of the fun that was going around, the one thing, I’ve learned “in school” was that a smile is God’s love. One simple smile can really show others, who God is. I’ve also learned that no matter how tired you are, God is with you, pushing you through!! Thanks be to God. -- Kamm I had so much fun playing with all the kids! They were all so cute and friendly! Even though the kids couldn't speak English, it was nice to see everyone having fun together. -- Jennifer Visited Izumi Kindergarten school where the RC ambassadors taught and shared hula with the かわいい (kawaii = cute) kids. They also helped create a pineapple fan with them. -- Uncle Les Afternoon activity : Paper making
Visiting Koda Elementary School was another fun filled day for all of us. The thing that impressed me the most was how all the students in grades 1 to 6 worked together. From helping our ambassadors in class activities to cleaning up their dishes after lunch, they worked with total team work and cooperation. There was even a huge assembly to work out teams to “clean” the school. Very impressive!! -- Aunty Lila Calligraphy lesson So handsome and beautiful in Kimono! -- Aunty Cheryl
(See more pictures under Photos) Sports Festival!! We went to Sports Festival with the Dorm kids, that the dorm staff catered. It was really fun. We played many rounds up to the finals of Soccer and Basketball! All the players were really nice and supportive. They always passed the ball to me, even after I missed the ball or did poorly. They never made me feel bad about my skills or made me feel left out. That was one thing that seriously shocked and surprised me. Especially, since, that would never happen in Hawaii! Not only were they nice, but, it was so much fun! Cheering on each other and pushing out our all. -- Kamm
The dorm food is the BEST! I can’t believe they get to eat something like this every single day. We also never had the same meal. I’m so jealous. It’s also nice to get closer to the dorm kids and our friends while eating. But, it’s super hard to remember the students names. -- Kamm
Work Hard, Play HardOn Satuarday, we went to our Homestay friend’s homeroom. It was interesting how they all bow at once to their Sensei. That would never happen at our school. After that, we went to four English classes. We saw Max and OP teach, they’re pretty good teachers. I was super shocked that their classes weren’t only paper assignments but, creative group assignments, similar to my school. Kamm. After
Sunday market and shopping was fun. We got snacks, donuts at mister donut, and a Gudetama McFlurry. They were delicious. -- Mimi It’s been an amazing time traveling with our young ambassadors growing in God’s love every day. The hosts from the dorms to each school have just surrounded us with overwhelming kindness and fun. Les and I are having so much fun watching the kids have so much fun while learning to work together. We find comfort in knowing that God is with us every moment to make us the best people we can be, all for His glory! -- Aunty Lila (See more pictures from Sunday in Photos) Sunday service at Tosa Church It was awesome! The Holy Spirit was flowing through the praise songs. Kira and Jennifer gave their testimony, the group performed the hula, and there was a wonderful message given by Pastor Nobuyoshi Narita. -- Uncle Les We enjoyed fellowship after the service with a curry lunch and special songs from Aunty Lila. Yoisho, yoisho! -- Uncle Les Dorm Living This is Lila’s mansion of a size room. -- Aunty Lila This is my room... -- Uncle Les We had a takoyaki party! The food was very delicious. It was fun to make the takoyaki by pouring into the takoyaki maker and flipping it to make it circular. It was great to socialize with our Tosajuku friends that came to Hawaii before. We talked a lot, played music, and also played games. -- Mimi It was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed making takoyaki with everyone! It was my first time making it, so it was a little hard, but the end result was so delicious! -- Jennifer And the fireworks were so pretty! At night it was dark, so the fireworks really lit up the night! -- Jennifer Looks like they were featured in a newspaper there -- Aunty Cheryl Happy Birthday Max!
